Vegetated architecture

How to improve the air quality in New York ?

Photochemical smog, is composed of layers of brown or grayish mist.

It is this type of smog that mainly affects New York City, due to a combination of emissions caused by
traffic, industrial activity and power plants.

"The visibility is very complicated and the air is really unbreathable."

French tourist

"I had a taste of smog in my mouth , my eyes were stinging and itching "

Why is vegetated architecture a positive solution?

Opting for a plant architecture will reduce
carbon emissions and other greenhouse gases as it will purify the air.

1 square metre of vegetated wall can convert 2.3 kg of carbon dioxide  into 1.7kg oxygen in one year.

Where can we install vegetated structures?

We can install vegetable walls, green roofs and
green spaces all around the buildings and also in parks as long as you respect the structure resistance to load.

The Bosco Verticale
(Vertical Forest)

Provins Green Wall

In Milan, architect Stefano Boeri has imagined a vertical forest. More than 20,000 plants and trees spread out on the building.

You may find melezes, cherry trees, apple trees, ferns.

This helps to reduce the pollution of the city. It can
absorb more CO2, reduce the “urban heat island” effect.

For information: a tree may absorb 25KG of CO2 per year.

In 2010, Provins built the new cinema with a green wall.

This was one of the first ecological steps towards a green city.
